What's up with today's transmitters?
Hello all,
As cell phones are getting larger and larger, I start to see the same thing with TXs. Yesterday I looked at the DX8 as well as the JR 11 and they are bigger than previous releases, especially the later. They remind me of the 80's cell phone (aka. the BRICK) and holding them is like holding a large personal pizza. I guess the larger size allows more features to be build in? I saw a high end TX on the NET yesterday and this one requires a strap on tray to operate. I wonder how their size will be say 5 years from now. DP

I quite like the feel of my 11x, it feels sturdy but most of the time I fly with a neck strap.
I just dont see a need for dinky transmitters, when I'm working with some of the smaller ones that come with RTF models it feels quite unnatural.

Hence I opted for a Futaba 8FG. It was smaller than the rest, and had more programming features. Don't care much for telemetry although I can see that Rx voltage and signal strength can be useful

RE: What's up with today's transmitters?
Hello
I have heard about the new line of radio where you look at the screen like lap top PC screen while flying rather than looking at the plane. This is not the visor type. It gives you true view of flying like in the cockpit. Aimed for 2018 release is the SFFT technology where voice commands fly the plane for you. SFFT stands for " Stick Free Flying Technology". Within a few years, we can lay on the hammock or fold down beach chair with rum punch in one hand and watch our planes flying through the sky without any stick input. We can give command like " do a lazy eight and hold altitute of 100 feet" and go on with our bussiness like talking on cell phone or BBQing without worries. DP

Dai Phan,
You forgot to say "Available any day now" (for months and months) and "built in USA" and "only $250 for 16 gazillion channels at more resolution than any servo will ever resolve."
