1961 Ecktronics-Kraft Radio
Hi all!
Remember when cell phones were nearly the size of a shoebox and weighed about as much as a brick??
I recently re-discovered an old Ecktronics-Kraft 10-channel reed type transmitter circa 1961 that had been given to me some years ago
after being found in a barn attic.
It appears to be a unit sold before Phil Kraft split from Ecktronics in the early 60's. The serial # is illegible but you can still see the price- $134.95.
The transmitter looks like it's all there except for the battery packs and overall seems to be in good shape.
(no suprise really since it looks like it was built to survive a nuclear war).
Was wondering if anyone had any idea about it's value?
I searched the net and found only one other example at http://www.rchalloffame.org/ along with a lot of interesting info about
Kraft and the early days of R/C.
So does this mean it's...
A. Very Rare and nearly priceless
B. Common and worthless
C. Rare but still worthless
Any input is appreciated!
Thanks in advance
Mars

Take a look on Ebay. Also you could always put it on Ebay with a reserve price that is high ($500?) and see where the auction goes. You could then sell it or take it off auction near the end if you get high bids but don't want to sell it.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Worth something to the right collector. Seen adds looking for them on RCU and AMA. The group looking is getting smaller as they are getting older. They will not be worth much in another 10 years; the people who remember will be gone.

Nobody want to fly an old reed transmitter. Put it on ebay and see if a "collector" wants it. Hint: Most of the stuff on RCHallofFame was donated or picked up at garage sales.

It's relatively rare compared to an Orbit or F&M and should fetch $100-200 depending on condition. There are some people around who build vintage airplanes and want matching vintage radios....or something that looks vintage, anyway. They're not necessarily elderly, either.
