Default Waterproofing

Ok I have a question. I want to waterproof my esc and rx but not to sure what can get covered and what can't. I was going to use the same stuff as i do to waterproof my servos and that is the plastic dip stuff. if anyone can point me in the right way that would be great.
Thanks

I have used Goop to seal the ends of the Shrinkwrap on an ESC when using it with amphibious aircraft. The motor can survive the water, but the ESC cannot.

??The principle is still unchanged.
You may prefer to view the video under:
Waterproofing your RC car ESC, servo and receiver with CorrosionX
Many still prefer to make a waterproofbox to house Receiver and ESC because, in need,
the units can be reused or repaired later whereas those made fully waterproof as above
are typically sealed one use items.

You need some cooling over the outside of the ESC. It may overheat in a box.

When I manufactured ESCs for boat racing (RC-Hydros.com) I used 3M DP-270 product to waterproof the ESC. My personal receivers were also coated with DP-270 (xtals glued in) and I never had a problem with them getting wet.

You can get DP-270 from www.OffshoreElectrics.com - tell him I sent you.

Use a product called "Corrosion-X". Search the waterplane forums and you will get allot of info on it. Great stuff. I have had my electronics in the lake for over 15 miutes while I got out to the plane and the electronics were not damaged. There is also some informative videos on YouTube.

Here is just one

Make sure you don't get Corrosion-X on the servo leads. It will make them brittle and stiff.
