Has anyone done this (adding missing channels)?
Hey guys,
I read this tip at a site and thought it seemed pretty cool. It said you could add channels to a 4 channel radio for about $5 a channel. http://webpages.charter.net/rcfu/ Go to Help & Tips and go down to the bottom where it says adding mssing channels. Let me know if youve done this before.
Thanks alot

Hey Byte.
When are you planning on doing this. I wanted to do this with a 4vf and add some on/off channels to it. It seems reletivly easy but i dont wanna short circuit my TX or something so i want to get some feedback on this project before i attempt it. Let me know how it goes or if you know of anyone who has attempted it.
Thanks alot.

Hi PaPa-NeGeorgeo,
I have the futaba skysport and i just added the fith channel to mine and it works great!
The skysport doesn't use the chip that your link refers to, so i think you can only get 5 channels not 7, but i'm not sure, and its not a proportional channel just on / off so i wired it to my trainer button. On the reciever end i put a standard servo in the 5th channel slot and when the button on the Tx is open the servo is about 20 deg shy of one extreme, button closed, servo goes 20 deg short of the other extreme. I'm going to use mine to operate a camera release, release a parachute guy, oh yeah and of course drop explosives(not on people). Just be careful soldering the board.
Try this link http://members.ams.chello.nl/fhmto/skysport.htm for pictures of where to solder.

does anyone here got a futaba 6YG? you can help a lot by posting pictures of the pcb. i heard that it uses the same encoder chip with skysport 4vf. i managed to get the 5th channel running but locating the 6th one is quite confusing.. theres couples of pins tied to the ground and im not going to break the board testing the pins.. so please anyone?
