Default 8fg dual elevator servos, on 2 chan.

I am setting up my new katana and have 2 mini servos in the tail for the elevator. I have one installed on chan 2 and the other I installed on chan 5. I adjusted channel 5 in the function mode of the radio to work with the elevator stick which is working perfect while I am at full 100% rates. While setting up dual rates and lower the normal rates to 50% channel 5 stays at 100% and will not adjust down to match the elevator #2 channel. I am confused at to what to do to fix this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am sure it is something simple but just dont know where to go within the programming.
thanks
Jeff

to adjust both channels, assign CH5 to elevator in the function menu.

Anything you do to Ch2 will be carried over to CH5

If you adjust CH5, it adjusts independantly.

y assigning the CH5 to ELEvator in th eFUNCTION menu you effectively mixed CH2 and CH5

That worked. I knew it would be something simple. I saw where to change the channel 5 over to work with j2 but didnt know I could switch over the name over to make it elevator.
thanks

the best way too do it is in model type set the tail to ailevator, but if you change it now you will probably lose all your settings you can try in function set channel 2 to ELE and channel 5 to ELE2
I hope this helps

I did play around with changing the tail type and it indeed did wipe out all my previous endpoints, throws, dual rates. My problem is each time I set up a new model I fumble my way around things and learn how to do it but I have forgotten it by the next time I get a new model Maybe it is senior moments. I did hit 50 this past year.
thanks
Jeff

No excuse Jeff, I got my 8FG when I was over 65
Now, what was the topic of discussion
Once you've setup a couple of models it really gets easier[8D]
Good luck,
Pete

Are you as overwhelmed with this radio as I am? The manual really stinks as to helping out.

Jeff,

Once you set up a typical model, just copy that setup to the next model and re-title it. Then just adjust the programming for the new model as necessary. Much less work than starting from scratch for each new model.

DougV thanks for the link. I have bookmarked it and will do some reading.

Truckracer, I will do that. I have several more models to put into my 8fg. I have always flown them with my 8u 72mghz radio and I have been slowly picking up 617 receivers to switch everything over to 2.4

Its not the "best" way, its just a different way to achieve the same thing with some added complication (and that to me is not the best).

If you select Tail typre as Ailevator then you have to watch the servo travel direction as well (Same as if you select a "normal tail"
But you now have to be conscious of setting both surfaces trim to "T2" whereas if you used the Normal tail and set CH5 to Ele and reverse that servo then the trim is automaticlally linked to T2.
I prefer simplicity.
If i need the extra roll authority I'd use Ailevator but if not i prefer to KISS and use 2Ail Wing and Normal tail. Ailevator does not bring any extra programming to the table.

What do you see as the advantages as going to the Ailevator set up?

I actually went with setting the second elevator onto channel 5 and renaming it elevator. Worked out great and super simple.

I am just wondering if there an advantage doing it the other way. I'll set up a fictitious model and have a look

I’ve use both ways and I rather go and select normal and then add the second elevator and trim. But if you are new to Futaba UI, then I would just let the system do the work for you, Select > new, Type > Airplane, Wing > Select how many servos for ailerons/Flaps, then on Tail > select Ailevator if you have two elevator servos and you are done, Stick and trim are assigned automatically and no renaming necessary.

Hope that helps,
Doug.
