Default Tactic TTX 650

http://www.tacticrc.com/transmitters...650/index.html Looks pretty good. I hope it is cheap. It will fly all of my Tactic planes?

Why bother, the system uses open source so many other brands types of Tx also fly the same models.

With other brands of TX one is forced to use the 1000 ft range Tactic anylink. My jury is still out on the anylink , and many anylink set-ups are just plain bad.

Not all are limited to 1000 feet, only those offered by The concept of Tx-R™ (Transmitter-Ready&trade aircraft by Tactic Anylink (Hobbico):
"Question: Why can't I use the AnyLink on my larger models?
Answer: AnyLink can be used for larger models, but the maximum specified signal range of AnyLink is 1000ft."

However, given the loss of many flying fields and cost to travel long distances to others, the "Parkflyer" is
once again the most popular selling size plus other manufacturers are offering different models with higher spec'd Tx.

However, why be restricted to only 1000 feet? as:
SLT: Protocol being open, any manufacturer can offer models compatible with it. - models include Receivers &existing Tx with greater range

"SLT: Compatible with any TX-R model made by G.P. or any company that utilizes the protocol which we expect to expand significantly.
Hitec will not offer a stand alone SLT RX but future BnF "Hitec" branded models
(Many more planned) will utilize it thus keeping the cost down. - Mike Mayberry, Hitec/MPX USA"

It sounds like we agree that Tactic spec's 1000 ft for the anylink module. This is good reason to use the new Tactic TX (or any Tactic TX for that matter)

To avoid confusion, only a Tactic SLT transmitter or a Tactic AnyLink module can communicate with a Tactic SLT receiver. The Tactic AnyLink module will work with quite a number of different transmitters, but you still need the module if you wish to use a non-Tactic transmitter to control your model with a Tactic SLT receiver.

Are you asserting, Bax, that the Aurora 9X will NOT be compatible with Hobbico's TxR line of aircraft in spite of supporting the SLT protocol?

I'm considering this TX too. The specs don't mention the range. Would this be usable with glow planes, and larger planes.

As of today, Tactic does not offer any receiver that it advertises as full range. Until they release such a receiver, you won't be able to safely use Tactic SLT or AnyLink for larger aircraft.

Thanks! That's important to know. Unfortunately my Airtronics RDS8000 isn't supported with the AnyLink. I wish I had bought a Spectrum or other radio which has third party receivers available. I'm tired of paying $60 for receivers. I fly giant scale to indoors, and wish I had one radio that can do it all.

I thought all of the full size RX were "full range" This should be at least the TR424 and TR624 and quite possibly the TR324. I see however that the 424 is now a different RX than it used to be. Perhaps it is only the TR624 , it's cheaper anyways an that's what comes in all the flyzone planes.

Yes they are "Full range" SLT receivers, only when used with the AnyLink module they are limited to 1000 feet.

No. The SLT protocol has been released so that anyone who wants to do so can produce an SLT-compatible transmitter. Any system advertised as SLT will work with the Tactic SLT receivers.

Doug is quite correct, these are fine performing receivers at "full" range when used with a Tactic SLT Transmitter. I use the 424 with the cheap TTX440 Transmitter and regularly speck out large thermal soarers, and at least one reviewer used the 624 Receiver on a Quarter-Scale Cub, with a 28cc Spark Ignition engine, with no problems. Only the Anylink seems to be at all limited in range; even then, I think Tactic are being extremely conservative.

The TTX 650:

Maximum peak output power at antenna input terminal: 74.47(mW)
Antenna Gain (typical): 1.2 (dBi)

The problem is that the used "SLT" FHSS protocol uses 15ch only.

Tactics use the SLT protocol that is also used in the Anylink module. It belongs to Great Planes, not Futaba, I believe. It is not compatible with Futaba protocols such as FASST.

At Toledo - Weak Signals - they were selling the 650 transmitter for $125.00. And then you take your receipt over to Hobbico and they give you a free six channel receiver. I bought one.

I have started to go thorough the programming menus and they seem to be well thought out. Tomorrow I'll try the new gear in a plane. Todd

"...a well written manual." LOL! Let's just say it could be better. It doesn't stink, but it's not very good either. A programming flow chart would have been a wonderful addition.

Mine came yesterday also. I've only had time to barely scratch the surface but I think it'll do. The gimbals are extremely smooth, very good feel.

I think I can figure it out, but it would've been nice if specific instructions for flaperons had been included, as well as at least one auxiliary channel with proportional control.

So far, however, for the price it seems like a pretty good deal.

I added some Traction Grip material to the molded grip areas on the transmitter, it gives it a better feel. Plus, now when a tree jumps out in front of me, the transmitter won't slip out of my hands.

What does the Tactic TTX 650 offer that the Futaba 6J does not? Both appear to be priced about the same.

I was considering the Futaba 6J also. The drawback I see with the 6J is that it is FHSS or whatever instead of FAAST like other Futaba's. There are third party recievers for FAAST, but I'm not sure about the FHSS. If only Futaba Rx are available for the J6 it can get expensive. If I knew the Tactic could provide a secure link at almost out-of-sight or 1/2 mile I would be interested.

A growing selection on Tactic transmitter ready planes is another reason to favor Tactic over the Futaba 6J. Also the Tactic 650's firmware can be updated via your computer. And then the pricing on the Tactic receiver - 3 for 49.99 is a WOW.

For flyers like me the Tactic 650 is the way to go. Todd
