Multiple modes/conditions in fixed wing
I have used at most 2 flight modes/conditions during a flight in fixed wing flying, these being a pattern and 3D mode. I can't find a need to use the other available modes. Are all the other modes really there for helicopters or are there useful things I can do with them in fixed wing flying?
Switching between 2 modes in flight I can cope with, when you use 3 or more how to you keep track of which mode you are in?
Harry

Hi Harry!
Different pilots use different levels of the conditions. For models like complex twins the multiple conditions are great for simulating an engine out, etc.
For scale competitors, they are graet for a take off condition, a landing condition, dirty fly by setup, etc.
You can create a snap condition which triggers off your rudder stick passing 90%, for example, just for snaps and spins or stall turns, etc.
Just like keeping track of your dual rate switches, its a process to get used to and comfortable with.

I hear you Harry! It can actually be easier for you when you get used to using the conditions...a single switch dropping gear, doors, flaps, idle down, etc....

I guess that depends a bit on what we define as "function". I think you are using it to describe a flight condition. I like having full control of every thing on my planes and I like it separate. Just the way I do things; not the law. I have a standard set up up on my transmitter so the switches never change (one of the nice things about MPX). The one exception for me is the "start" mode for a winch launch. Different strokes for different folks.

Sorry, Gary, i didn't say it well.. I meant for one manuever or activity -- ie a landing condition.
No doubt that different folks are comfortable with different setups!
I also love that the 9C lets me move nearly everything to any switch i want.

BTW, AnnMarie, I am still waiting for GP to come out with the optional "feet" for the laser incidence meter that will ease doing "V" tails.............
