Default Changing Tx module for Pcm 1024z

Is is possible that i buy a different (e.g. 72MHz) Tx module for my Pcm 1024zap which am using 35MHz on... does the transmitter accept that or it is only configured to the original 35MHZ which i bought it with??

Note: it is legal in my country to use both frequencies

You can use a module on any frequency band. That's the whole point of modules - the rest of the radio stays the same no matter what country you're in.

Just make sure it's designed for the 9Z. The 8U and 9C modules will fit and transmit, but the 9Z has its own module type.

You have to use the crystal that matches the Rx. so if it is a dual conversion RX it needs a dual conversion crystal, and so on.

happy flying!

Changing the module is not against FCC is it. I want to change mine on the 9C and Futaba says the module is tuned and no addition tuning is required, just change module, receiver crystal and go fly. True?

absolutely true, h82. that's the point of the modular radios is that you can change frequency -- even BAND -- without any tuning or other issues.

The 129 has been discontinued and the 149 is its replacement

Amar,
Yes, there is a diference in howt hey are tuned at the factory. The difference is minor and assuming your radio "noise" is far lower in Kuwait than here in teh US, it is likely not going to be a problem for you. I would range check extensively with both crystals, and if you see a difference of 10% or more with the 37, then do NOT use it in the receiver, and purchase a high band rx instead.

One thing that was not mentioned was the fact that if you have a receiver on the 35 MHz band, you cannot change it to 72 MHz by changing the receiver crystal. You will have to purchase a new receiver. The change from 35 MHz to 72 MHz is too much of a frequency change for just a crystal to accomodate.

Even a service shop cannot change the frequency. That much of a change is well outside of the tuning range of the receiver. A complete frequency board would have to be changed in the receiver, and the parts and labor to do that would wind up at about the same price as a completely new receiver.
