I've held both, There is a quality feeling the 12X has that is not matched by the spektrum. What do you want to do that you cannot with the 12X? To me it would be like trading an older luxury car for a newer small car. The newness and some of the features on the new are nice, but is the quality the same?

I'm thinking going from 10X to xg14. Lots of improvements in 14 years since the 10 was new. Telemetry and better ways to link servos for multiple servos/surface would be the reason, but right now the 10X is handling my current planes just fine.

We hosted Illini SuperJets this weekend at our club field. For the previous two years, most of the guys were flying JR 12X. This year I looked to see what people were flying. I found one Futaba, 3 12X's, and everybody else either had a DX18 or DX18QQ. Louis Patton is, as I understand, an old Futaba user. Then he upgraded to JR. Now he swears by his DX18. He would be a great guy to contact and ask exactly what led to each of his upgrades in performance. I assure you, no jet jock will go "backwards" in performance.

Do what I did and keep 'em both....
I do like the feel of my 12X better than my Spektrum radios due partially to the fact that I prefer a heavier radio and partially to the fact that the 12X being smaller fits my hands better. But there are too many things the 18's (I have a regular and a QQ) will do that the 12X won't and they are MUCH simpler to program.

Z ... picture didn't make it man :-) i went to my local hobby shop last night and held the 18 as well as played with the programming. all i can say is plastic ! i thought i was holding an old futaba attack 4 . i didn't like the screen resolution at all nor did i like the fact there was only two buttons . as far as the radio it self goes ... i'm sure they work good but it's hard to go from a beefy radio like the 12x to an all plastic light weight radio like the 18 . i was also told that JR is done, finished and on it's way out here in the u.s. . i hope not
