    Well, I'm planning on attending the WRAM show next month, so this will be a must see, even if I'm never, ever going to need that much radio
    I like the "understated" styling a lot!

    Looks like a fabulous radio.

    I like the metal chassis and gimbals

    It resembles a Futaba 14SG on first glance.

    Far more conservative in styling than other recent JR offerings.

    Yes sir, JR has a whole new line of products coming out and will be displayed at the AMA Show. I am truly excited about the release. I was one of the first to have the XG11 here in the US delivered from overseas. Love the technology and the amazing gimbals these radios have, second to none. The new infinity XBus products are also amazing products!

    Hi Pete,
    I'll be at the show.
    I can't wait to actually handle the radio, unless by some chance mine shows up on my door before that.

    its a hell of a beautiful radio, If i could afford it, and buy new recievers for every plane i have, id get it in a heart beat....but for now im still happy with my 10X.....all i have ever needed is 9 channels,

    Im a JR guy, but ......
    what do pilots need soo many channels for? And how are 28 used? first of all how can 28 different functions be needed, and where are all the switches to activate these channels?


    maybe someone can map it out...lol

    Hey Metallica,
    I'm like you as I find my 10X's have served my every need, although I'm considering adding a 12X as I may need the additional channels. JR are my radios & their longevity, quality components, ease of use, & features are second to none. JR musta heard my prayers for a 10X/12X upgrade to stay with the metal chassis & especially the touchscreen programming that I find absolutely superb. There were some extremely feeble attempts on the other forum to dare compare that junkbox Tar.anus to the new 28X Flagship......Duuuuuuhhhhh!

    This is for Metallica. My 40% gas can use 12 channels. I loved my 10x and it took me awhile to upgrade my radio, I used alot of match boxs. My jet needed 11 channels.

    I am all for quality equipment . What makes me ponder ,is why is this assembly-made from aluminum demonstrably better than the current injection molded setups
    accuracy?- I don't think so
    withstands heavy spring loads better ?
    maybe
    can withstand being crammed to the stops better ?
    yes.
    However , if you fly with light spring loads and setup your models for small stick input response - I would be very surprised if this can offer any improvement.
    Having setup tracking tests on various tx over the years , I just don't see how there exists a problem which needs to be fixed by using metal gimbals
    feel good stuff? I think that is the real reason for metals gimbals -

    I would think that just having machined aluminum here would out last plastic hands down. JR is known for quality and this is just an example of their commitment to providing the best that can be made in the flagship radio.

    For me gimbals are super important, we all use them every time we fly. This is part of their slogan, “feel the difference”. I have a 10sxII radio that still works and has a great feel. That radio has to be 15 years old.

    I have not held the 28X in my hands so I don’t know how it feels but if the past is any indication of the future my bet is that JR gimbal is 2nd to none. I have had other brands of radio gimbals break, pots go bad and springs go bad as well but never a JR. Heck, I still have a 652 that has to be over 15 years old that has been abused and still works great and is smooth.

    Very few people have actually put hands on this transmitter so why don’t we wait until it’s here and we have had a good opportunity to play with it before we start taking shots at it.

    Not bum rapping em - I have had JR radios since the very first one hit Las Vegas - all had plastic gimbals - all were good .
    would I pay for a more expensive gimbal -with todays technology?
    No - seen, tested too many -and I used Pro Line assy's when I made my own radios -
    those who like the idea of aluminum ,will like em.

    ill never get into jets or even 40% stuff... the biggest id ever go is 100cc 12x would be the highest id ever need to go IMO i love the simplicity of the touch screen interface

    I used to fly my 4 channel MSR on a JR 11X. Its not about the channels for me, its about the ergonomics of the radio.

    The # of channels isn't that important, it's the ability to plug in servos individually and control them individually. Flaps, ailerons, inner ailerons and spoilers on a large sailplane are 8 servos. Add rudder and elevator, tow release, retracts and canopy opening and you are in the 18 channel world unless you join something, which eliminates being able to control them individually. This is a sailplane load. With a scale ship, many more servos can be used. Using X-bus, each servo can be controlled individually. Do we need 28 channels? Nope. Can we use 28 channels for every day flying, probably not. Can the scale and giant scale guys make use of 28 ports, absolutely. This isn't an everyman's radio, it's the 911 of radios!

    I thot an individual channel was required for individual control of a servo .
    A balance function is just that - it ain't a control
    It is a nice balance function and as long as power requirements ( yes they are important) are kept in line , all is good

    The advantage of the XBus is that it can control up to four servos on each channel. So even the XG8 with the XBus update should handle most Giant Scale requirements. One disadvantage of a serial bus that I haven’t seen discussed is it that introduces the possibility of a single point failure where none hadn’t existed before. A failure in the wing hub could knock out every servo in the wing.

    I wouldn't call it "control" - it is a nice setup feature and all four move as one servo
    again -sufficient power must be provided for all four. This can easily require additional bits n pieces.
    Personally, I would prefer four individual channels to get better troubleshooting ability and redundant feeds.
    Just my thoughts
