Default Futaba 9Z Transmitter Battery

The battery in the Futaba 9Z transmitter, NT8s1100, is no longer available. I have been replacing the batteries with 1100s. Will the 700mah batteries give me some decent on times? Does anyone know what the current draw is for this transmitter. Thanks, Dan.

Thanks guys. I’ve been doing the same thing with NiCads. Do you know where I can get an extra battery holder or how much current the transmitter draws with the 2.4 module installed? By the way, what’s the advantage of the Eneloops? Dan.

You might Radio South for a battery holder. Not many parts left for the 9Z. The eneloops are 2000 mah, and they are low self discharge, so they will retain their charge while setting on the self. I like them in a transmitter. BTW, my 9Z has the 2.4 module and will all day with Eneloops, but I have no idea of current draw.

I was using Eneloops in my (2) 9Z transmitters until I sold them. I have been using them in several transmitters for 4 or 5 years now with zero problems. Plenty of capacity, long life, almost zero self discharge, etc. The only thing I don't like about them is the price. Since these became available I would never consider using a NiCd or conventional NiMh again and I won't use LiPo batteries in transmitters.

Not Dan but I've bought Eneloop tx packs from NoBS and Sin City Jets. Both Steve (NoBS) and Chad (Sin City Jets) will even install the cells in your cassette if you'll send it to them.

Thanks Zeeb for another source of battery packs. I’ve soldered several packs of batteries in to the cassette. I have also modified the printed circuit board in there to allow me to cycle the batteries without having to remove them from the transmitter. I thought it would be a good idea to have a spare cassette just in case I ruin the one I got or that multi pin connector gets damaged. I still use the transmitter as a spare for the planes and to run some RC boats I have on 2.4. Dan.

Likewise, I really like NOBS as a battery supplier. Not cheap but their workmanship is top notch and their inventory is always fresh.

Truck, Futaba just informed me that the battery holder in the 9Z is no longer available. I'm going to have to start treating mine like the family jewels. It's looking like I'll have to start planning on a new backup. Dan.

Don't give up until you talk to Tony at Radio South, he's got Hobby Services (Hobbico) beat six ways to breakfast. He might have something or know where you may find one....

Zeeb, Tony did not have any. I'll keep looking around. Thanks, Dan.
