Can I use the flaps and gyro channels with one plane? To turn the gyro on and off I have to use the flaps/gyro switch, but what if I also wanted to use the flaps function?

Maybe, if you can get the flaps to go to the position that agrees with what you want the gyro to do. What about the gear switch and channel?

Ditch the gyro and just fly the plane.

Agreed. Sounds like you need more than 6 channels. If you need 7 now, you might need 8 or 9 later on. Keep this in mine when you are considering your next TX purchase.
