Tamco range issues
Hi All,
Rejoined the RC world building for my 11 year old son but radio gear has moved on a bit since my day of crystal and mechanical speed controllers!
Just finished the lunchbox and have 2.4Ghz Tamco (basic) radio gear however it only goes about 20ft from the controller before it goes mad on it's own and hopefully gets stuck.
I thought the 2.4Ghz gear was supposed to have a better range or am I setting it up wrong?
Any advice welcome.
Cheers

If it look like this set it is most likely a re-branded FlySky for the UK market:

They have a very good range so your problem might be a broken or wrongly installed antenna(2.4 Ghz signal is easily masked by anything conductive/Metal or carbon fiber). Some explanations here:

Thanks for the reply,
Just looked at it again this morning and think it might be the antenna on the RX as the end looks a bit stripped and it is only about 6 inches long.
Will any after market 2.4Ghz RX bind with the TX?

Only receivers with same protocol, in that case FlySky which is sold under many other names:
