Default futaba t7c battery replacement

Can I replace the stock 9.6volt NiCad with an 11.1 volt lipo without burning up my transmitter?

It would be a much better idea to use a 3S Life 9.9 volt battery instead of a 11.1 volt Lipo. Your Tx internals would appreciate it too.

But then I'd have to buy a new charger. I'm already setup to charge lipos. If the 11.1 lipo is too much, I won' try it. But the package says its for futaba transmitters.

Most if not all modern battery charger are equipped to charge Nicad/ Nimh/ Lead acid/ Lipo and Life batteries ( unless you have a Lipo only charger ) but one has to read the charger's charging instruction to be able to access the Life charge function or do a YouTube video search. What brand charger do you have ?? .

My charger is around 5 years old and its a Chinese no name. I have looked for a life function but I don't think it has it. I doubt my charger is on YouTube. and buying a new charger is not in the near future.

I would not give up on your charger just yet as a 5 year old unit should have a Life function. Can you post a picture of your charger ?

Tried the Futaba route first. all I got was a cya answer. gibberish about possibly voiding the warranty. this on a discontinued radio that hasn't seen warranty in a decade.

Steve, Try this forum if you haven't yet. It's supposed to support questions like you have, I'm with Karol. The voltage of Lipos is too high. Life's may be OK. I would stick with the NiCads or NiMhi's. Dan.

I got the okay from Bax the Futaba rep some time ago to use a Life battery in my Fut 8UAF and have been doing so for several years now with absolutely no ill effects.
