Default Need some advice on installing hayes whip antenna.

I just got my Hayes whip antenna 18". My question is that is it imperative to cut the receiver wire or I can just solder the end of the receiver wire without cutting it. Also the manual says that this antenna is for receiver wires which are 18" or shorter. My receiver wire is 36", so can i still install it if i dont cut my receiver wire at all?

Suggest you follow the instructions that came with the antenna. They are the ones who know best how to use their product.
