Default Futaba 9c owners ... plz help.

Hi all,

I just got a Futaba 9c and I'm having a heck of a time getting my plane set up with it. I have dual aileron servos so I want to use the flapperon function. I finally got it to work, but my servos are reversed. Do I need to reverse both 1 and 6 to get them right?

Thanks

Yep, if you have your flaperon active using channel 1 and 6 for your ailerons, then you simply need to reverse both channel 1 and 6.

You will absolutely love this radio! What did you upgrade from?

My head hurt for a month the first time I read the manual. The more you play with it the easier it gets.

Seems the book "assumes" that you know what they are talking about.

It does? Maybe I should have read it

The easiest way to reverse directions in flaperon mode is to change the signs of the throw percentages.

For instance, if your screen currently reads:

AIL1> 100% 100%
AIL2>-100% -100%

and your ailerons are backwards, you will need to change it to:

AIL1> -100% -100%
AIL2> 100% 100%

Did you purchase your radio in the US? If so, sorry to hear you're frustrated with teh manual. We put a ton of work into it to try to get it to be easy to use and understand. There are some basic assumptions made, and a lot of basics written in the intro of the book before you start the programming, but we made a real stab at trying to make it user friendly for you.

If you purchased yoru radio outside the US, go to futabarc.com and download the US 9c manual and see if you find it more helpful.

Hi Ann Marie.

I bought the Radio from Tower. I am a relative newbie that's why I didn't understand a lot about what the manual was telling me. I was so flustered at first I didn't touch it for a month. Now that I have been using it I feel a lot more comfortable. There is nothing "wrong" with the manual. I just shouldn't have bought it as my first radio.

Thanks for your concern

Bob

I have a question along the same lines, i programed my flaperons in and set them to a switch. Problem is i either get spoilerons in one position and flaps in the other on the two way switch or flap nutral and spiolerons on the three way switch. I want the flaps either on or off with the flip of a switch. How can i zero out the spoileron effect? Im afraid that i may bump the three way switch and send it to the dirt. Ive been reading the book for a week now and trying to 0 travels and cant find a solution.

Easiest approach....set flap trim to 0.
now pick your 2 position switch
do a mix:
master = offset
slave = FLAP
percent = (wahtever it takes to drop your flaps as desired)
switch = desired switch
position = position you want your ailerons to drop as flaps
trim = NOT AVAILABLE
link = ON

this will OFFSET (move a set percentage, not based on any other servos motion) your ailerons as flaps when that switch is moved to that position.

I didn't really like the manuel for the 9c, but it is so easy to program that I have only had to refer to it twice since I have had it. (almost 6 months) The amount of times that I will need it will get less and less as I have it longer and get used to it. It is a very easy radio to program. A lot easier than the 6xas that I had before.
