Default Need help from radio guys

I have a question which I hope has a simple answer.

I have an Airtronics Vanguard 6 channel which has been ROCK SOLID for more than 10 years. Never the slightest twitch or bobble from it. For that reason, I like to use it whenever possible for the test radio on a new airframe. (one less thing to go wrong)

My problem is that I need channel 5 or 6 to be proportional rather than a 2 or 3 position switch. I've been told I could do this by changing the switch to either a potentiometer or a rheostat, I don't know which.

If this can be done with parts I can buy at Radio Shack, please let me know what I need and what's involved with making this change.

Thanks in advance, Johnny

Send your transmitter to Tony Stillman at radio south and have him do any conversion that is possible.

The switch you are throwing on the fixed channel is selecting between two different resistors to alter the pulse width for that channel. An experienced tech should have no problem doing as the above reply stated and installing a potentiometer in that part of the circuit. The switch and the resistances will have to be dealt with. Radio South or Kraft Midwest if you need a hand .

Good Luck!

Thanks, LadyFlyer,
I hoped it would be a simple exchange between the existing switch and a rheostat or potentiometer. Looks like I need to seek the assistance of one of the local radio repair guys.

Johnny
