Airtronics new 94758Z Digital Servo Comparison
Hello-
Being a 20+ year Airtronics flyer I naturally selected Airtronics relativly new 94758Z core less double ball bearing High Speed/High Torque Digital Metal Gear Servo. Having allways flew Core less Double B.B. High speed servos, the Airtronics 94758Z Digital proved to be quite a surprise. I installed one on the pull pull rudder of my current pattern plane and proceeded to roll to Knife Edge.....WHAT A DIFFERENCE ,but of course most of you all already know that.
I'm curious as to what servo (Digital of course) that you will compare with my Airtronics 94758Z[8D]

RE: Airtronics new 94758Z Digital Servo Comparison
There are many that can compare to the Airtronics digitals and 2 that really stand our are the Hitec 5945s and particularily the new upcoming JR 8611s. The Hitec 5945 has about 70 more ounces of torque then the Airtronics and is slightly slower. The new JR 8611 will have more than 145 ounces of torque than the Airtronics.
So, in saying that, you should try the Hitec/JR line sometime and compare the difference.

The Hitec is only slightly slower? The Airtronics is over twice as fast! That's a really quick servo at .06 seconds.

Well the Airtronics in torque don't compare period to the JR 8611 or Hitec 5945 for that matter lol... They may be .1 second slower but in even the most extreme 3D manuevers I don't see how that is going to effect you thhhhhhat much. Rolling harriers your fingers 99% of the time don't keep up with the plane. So, to me, torque here would be more important.

exactly how many 8611's have you used???
Since the 8611 is not available to the public yet..it would be hard to compare it to anything.
plus he asked about comparable servos...not an apples to oranges comparison
all I can tell you Ramc is the Airtronics is more precise than the handful of hitec or JR servos that I tested in a jig with a pointer loading them down with a 30oz weight over a pulley. I have 94755's, 94757's, and 94758's not as much torque as an 8411 but appear to have a much better gear-train when comes to slop.

I would have to say the Hitec 5925s compare then with the Airtronics if you want a compariable servo but I don't see why you choose that particular servo category.

I guess by your theory, servo makers should only make 1 servo...

Actually no they don't, 5925 is a 3 pole motor servo that is not even in the same ballpark of speed or accuracy.

The 5925 has a coreless motor, not 3-pole. Speed is close at .08 instead of .06.

RE: Airtronics new 94758Z Digital Servo Comparison
We were always amazed at the speeds that Airtronics rates their servos so we did a little testing ourselves and found out that our .08 sec servo is actully physically faster than an Airtronics .06 sec servo. I asked Airtronics about this and they told me that they rate their servos with a fully charged battery @ 1.35V per cell. Hitec rates our servos at 4.8V and 6V even. At 1.35V per cell a 4 cell pack is 5.4V and a 5cell 6.75V.

Lets just wait and see how many crashes are blamed on the airtrionics digitals... Before we pass judgemnet... seems to me Hitec is still the leader in that department

RE: Airtronics new 94758Z Digital Servo Comparison
funny...I have asked the same question and was told that the rating is done with a power supply not a battery pack and is done at 4.8 and 6.0 V..
I guess since your own product has so many failures you have to bash other companies whose products work to make you feel better???
