Quantum 8 Sub Micro Receiver
Has anybody here used the Quantum 8 Sub Micro Receiver from FMA? I'm thinking about getting one to use in a sailplane with the 9C. I was wondering what the range is like and if it filters noise well.

RE: Quantum 8 Sub Micro Receiver
This is an excellent receiver even though it is 2 generations older than the current FMA offerings. I use this receiver in my research aircraft which carries 1.5 watt TV tx onboard. The rx rejects all the interference and flies the planes solidly. These are $5000+ airplanes. A better choice if you can live with 5 channels is the M5 receiver which has better rejection than the quantum 8. In tests conducted in my lab, the quantum 8 performed better at rejecting out of band interference (5 watts at 6") than any other brand of rx. I need all 8 channels so the M5 would not work for me.
Hope this helps

RE: Quantum 8 Sub Micro Receiver
Elson,
Thanks for the reply. Actually, further down the road I plan on adding a TV Tx so its good to hear that there are no problems with this. Does the quantum come with a whip antenna? And do you do anything special to shield it from the TV Tx?
Thanks again for your on target reply!

Kevin,
The quantum comes with the typical end fed wire antenna. I do nothing special to shield the rx from the TV tx. Infact, the tv antenna is in close proximity to the rx antenna. 1.5 watt signal from the tv tx is a lot of power for a rc rx to handle without problems
