Default JR Xstals with "RED" cover ???

Recently, I ordered some JR FM Dual Conversion crystals from Horizon. Just now I plugged every one into my RX with no response at all. All my other RX xtals have a gray cover on them, these are red. Anyone know whats wrong. The packaging is labeled JPXRD Dual Conv. RX Crystal - Aircraft Only. The cover is marked the same except for a small "DC" next to the FM RX marking.

The only JR receivers that use he "red" D/C crystals are the JR 940 and 945 10 channel PCM receivers. The red crystal designates dual conversion. ALL other JR receivers are single conversion and require the grey crystal.

JR dual conversion receivers use crystals with red covers. JR single conversion (ABC&W) use grey covered crystals.

They cannot be interchanged.

You bought the wrong crystals. Almost all the JR ABC&W receivers use single-conversion crystals; only the top-end 945 and 950 receivers are DC.

Return them.

As far as I know (and that ain't much), JR's NON-pcm receivers use the gray-capped crystal while the PCM rxs use the red capped. All three of my 649 S-PCM rxs have the red cap.

XP,
the NER-649S 9-ch PCMS RX is the one that I tried the Xstalls in first and to no avail. Slipped the gray ones in and they all worked.

XP, The 649s is a single conversion ABC&W receiver and uses the grey xtals. I have 4 of them. If yours have red caps on the xtals, then someone has put the wrong caps on the xtals.
