Default servo memory

Has anyone ever experienced servo memory problems. I picked up a old RCM May 1998 and there is a article on servo memory causing crashes because you used a elevator servo from one aircraft, and moved it to the rudder in the same or another aircraft. Then during the next flight lost control and crashed because the servo didn't respond properly. I have trouble understanding how this could happen, the servo should fallow the transmitter stick the operation shouldn't matter . But this is a article in RCM it should be possible.???????? What do you guys think or has it happen to you.??????????

I have never heard of this (other than a worn pot)
I am interested in any discussion on this issue.

I'm with Geist. Other then a damaged POT, I don't see how it would be possible for a servo to "memorize" its function. Unless, of course, it's digital. In which case there's all sorts of good stuff you can TOTALLY screw up

The May issue actually goes on sale in April. Does that help you understand how much faith you should put into that article.

damn, beaten to the april fools day edition

maybe just maybe, if a servo has only ever moved a small way in it's long life the inner section of the pot is worn out, when it hits the new bit it does something weird.

nah... it's an april fools joke... unless some dimwit moved the servo, but pluged it in the same place as before lol

thanks guys for your input.

I think it must have been a article for April fools that was a month late getting in RCM and they listed it a a feature Article on the front cover. The next time someone has a bad landing or worst i can tell him it wasn't there fault it was servo memory fault read all about it in May 1998 RCM.
