6E
Digital trims (feature or foul; you decide)
3 model memories?
1 SHARED DR switch for ELE and ALE

6X
Analog trims (tried and true but disadvantages too)
6 model memories?
Seperate DR switches for ELE and ALE

Does the 6E do PCM? I don't think it does.

here is a better link on futaba that compares the features of both...

the 6xas is the older radio, quite old actually, but many are happy with it. I own one and it works great, although if I were to buy again I would probably get a 9c, the 6xas is too limiting when you get into 6 servo planes or helis.

$275?? I'm with Runover. If it's not Canadian, you got robbed.

6X is far superior tot he EXA. But, check out the HiTec Eclipse 7 too. Same class as the 6X, a little more money, but far better.

The 6XAS is far superior.

3 Dual Rates: Aileron, elevator, rudder (on one switch)
Expo on the 4 main channels
etc.

I have both. If you think this will be your only radio for a long time get the 6XAS. If you are just getting into the hobby, money is not a problem, and are willing to upgrade to maybe a 9C in a year or two, start with the 6E to see if you like RC.

The big things the 6E is missing for 3D flying are:

D/R on rudder
Expo on rudder and throttle (for a primitive throttle curve)
Not as many mixes

The 6XAS has these.

It has rudder D/R when D/R is all on one switch. If you want two D/R switches on the 6X, you are limited to aileron and elevator.

It is a real good transmitter, better than the 6e. The 6e was NOT designed as a step up from the 6X.

Only the 6XAS, not the 6XA. On the PARA menu, you have to choose the DRSW option that activates channels 1,2 & 4. That puts the three dual rates on the right side switch.
