Default Throttle lag with hitec rx

I have a magic extra with a thunder tiger .46. I use a futaba 9c radio with a hitec supreme universal rx. my problem is this: when the plane is more than about 200 feet from me, the throttle does not respond like it should. when i fly the plane very far away, there is a 3 second lag from the time i move the throttle stick until the throttle responds. i don't think its the mixture or anything with the engine, because when on the ground or in the air (less than 200 ft from the transmitter) it works normally. A,E,R have no lag no matter how far away the plane is. The radio also range checks over 100 feet with engine running. ever heard of this before?

are you sure that it's not just the sound of the engine that is lagging. when the plane is far away it will take a couple of seconds for the sound to reach your ear !!

1100 ft/sec. 3 secs = over 1/2 mile. I don't know about the sound travel bit.
