Default Number system for Futaba components?

Is there any basis for the numbering system for Futaba components such as servos and receivers? I'm trying to shop around for components and the varying numbers don't seem to help me. For example, retract servos. Is there a base number? Is there a base number for a series, such as standard size, high torque, giant scale etc? Is there a publication with this general information? Similar questions for receivers.

Tim,
The servo numbering system is complex and not easily explained.

The receiver system, however, is prettysimple:

# less than 100 = wide band receiver, G plugs
# starting with 100 = narrow band, J plugs
3rd digit = # of channels
D = dual conversion
F = FM
P = PCM (rx wlil say PCM meaning pcm512 or PCM1024 meaning, well, PCM1024)
A = AM
