I have been using one for years and it has been working flawlessly. My only complaint is when I switch on, all the servos go beserk and I'm sure it isn't good for them. I must remember to turn on my transmitter first. Is this normal for this reciever to do this as I have had other fm recievers and dont remember them doing this?

From what I've noticed, whether this happens or not doesn't really depend on the RX brand. Mine does it sometimes but not always. It seems to have to do with whether there are straneous signals present or not.
You should always turn on the TX first, whether it is convenient or not. Your servos could be damaged.

If the RX is ON and TX OFF, then the servos will move to the extreme dead position and can break the gears as this happened twice with me. I really hate this thing...
