The best advice I can give is: Do not buy a used radio from somebody you do not know.

Excellent advice on not buying a used radio from someone that you do not know. A used radio can be one of the best, or worst investments you can make in this hobby. I generally shy away from any used radio equipment unless I am familiar with the individual and the equipment. I have purchased several RX's off this site, but I made sure that they were new as advertised.
