Rudder servo
Hi,
What kind of torque do I need for the rudder servo in my 25% Extra 300? It weighs about 13 lbs and has a BIG rudder. I generally use Hitec so if u could recomend a specific servo from them I would apreciete it.
Thanks,
/Fredrik

RE: Rudder servo
The Htec 5646MG should work fine and a 5945MG would work great! You are planning on using a 6 volt pack -- aren't you? You will want the extra speed and torque that 6 volts provides... If you don't want a digital servo then the 645MG, the 925MG, or the 945MG have the specs you are looking for...

RE: Rudder servo
It seems the 645 would be fine for my needs.
There must be an error on the web shop at my dealer because the 705MG and the 805MG costs the same as the 645???
I must check that.
What is the advantage of digital servos?
Thanks,
/Fredrik

RE: Rudder servo
the digital applies 100 % power till it reaches is location, where as a standard gradually looses voltage as it gets to its location (slows down)this means holding power. For instance if you took 2 100oz. servos one digital and the other standard and try moving them from center while the power is on you will be able to move the non digital at about 150 oz. and the digital it will be about 225 oz. these are just guesses but I think you can see the difference.

RE: Rudder servo
Digital servos have a narrower dead-band. While this will not minimuze flutter, it will make any servo contribution to flutter smaller. I would recommend the hitec 5975 servo. I have them in my Wild Hare Edge and they work great.

So digital servos minimize the risk of flutter, is that how I can interpret it?
