Default Channels 12,13,14 ?

I hope that this is the correct forum the place this question.

I was mentioned to me a short while ago by a fellow flier that the FCC has/or will
re-assign channels 12,13,14 to pagers .

Is this true or is rumor control hard at work ?

Regards

It doesn't sound very likley to me, the FCC doesn't usually take space in the middle of a band like that, causes too many problems.

I don't know anything about that rumor.

But, as far as I know, they don't need to take our channels to make them pagers.

They already put pagers in between our channels. If you are too close to the transmitter, it can cause some interference. We have that problem at my field, with 4 of them. There is a pager transmitter between 55 and 56 that makes those channels unsafe, and 3 others between 3 other pair of channels. It's annoying, but liveable.

Now, if you live in an area that's about to get a pair of pager systems set up between 12 and 13, and between 13 adn 14, you may find those channels not useable. Maybe that's the rumor you're hearing in your area.
