Default Any Futaba 10JA 10-Channel 2.4G Air S-FHSS reviews

Has anyone with the Futaba 10ja air radio had any problems with this radio? I'm wondering about the range since the antenna is inside and other 2.4 ghz radio's has them. Is this radio reliable and worth cost?

Thanks
Grif

I bought a 8J about 2 years ago and it has been a great radio. I needed more model memory so bought a 10J six months ago. I fly about 5 days a week and the 10 J has been rock solid with everything from EDF's, scale, sailplanes, glow and electric. Range has never been an issue and has been 100% reliable, always worked perfect.

Been using a f 9cap and 7c 72mhz for years. A few months ago I was flying with the 9cap and was on approach to land. The plane decided to bank full right and throttle to full. It drove it in the ground...sent the rec/radio to hobby service and they found no problems. After that...decided to purchase a f 10ja and put with my yak 80cc. Now I was told that the f10j is not recommended for the plane. They recommend the 14sg.....the 7/9cap has never give me any problems on the range. I thought all radio output was all the same....but different features. I've got to decide now if I want to gamble with the 10j on the $2000 yak or get the 14sg....
Thanks for the info

Go with the 14SG which is a FASSTest system. It will allow more functionality than the 10J. While the 10J S-FHSS works well and is a nice system ( I had one) I tried it because I am a radio nut. I currently have a 14MZ and 18MZ as my primary systems.

Basically the FASST/FASSTest vs. S-FHSS protocols differ in ability to define and error check the radio signal/data on the receiver end. I'm no technology expert but I liken the difference to our previous 72Mhz systems of FM PPM vs PCM. FM PPM passes the data to the servos even if it is corrupt (interference, noise, etc.) where FM PCM only passes data that follows a transmitted code. The receiver looks for the code and ignores everything else.

Although 2.4Ghz protocols are pretty reliable, Futaba's FASST adds another layer of reliability not often found in other systems.

I still use Futaba PCM and experienced only one quick failsafe during 15-20 years of use. Been using FASST since introduced and have experienced no issues what so ever (airplanes and helis).
