Default JR Travel Adjust Problem

I am trying to install retracts for the first time and I am having major problems trying to adjust the travel on the gear channel of my JR 652. It seems that it will only go max travel. If I back the travel way down the servo does not move and as I adjust the travel up there seems to be a threshold where the servo jitters and then moves to max throw. Above this threshold the servos work in both directions OK, just max travel all the time. This is the first time I have ever used this channel. All other radio functions work as they should. It does this with 2 different retract servos, one JR and one Hitec. Is my transmitter defective or am I doing something wrong? The manual is no help. Thank-you in advance.

There is nothing wrong with the Tx. Retract servos are not proportional (except I believe Airtronics make a proportional retract servo). Retract servos behave like a simple light switch, they are either on or off but there is no in-between. To adjust the travel you must move the pushrod closer to the center of the arm or further out from the centre.

Thanks Harry, If that is true then why is there a travel adjust on the transmitter? [sm=confused.gif]

If that is true then why is there a travel adjust on the transmitter?
Because channel 5 is not limited to standard retract control. Some folks use proportional servos on this channel (like me). Others need it for auxilliary functions like gyros.

You might use an Airtronics proportional retract servo, or the retract servo may be an ordinary servo operating the air valve for pneumatic retracts.

Thank-you all. Now I understand why I hear so often that installing retracts is such a pain. [:'(]
