what does the precision really mean on futaba servos?
I was looking at the 148 and 3101 and they are labeled precision and cost a few dollars more. Is this good marketing or are they really more accurate?

Yes and Yes. You wouldn't expect a product to have the words "Low Precision" in the name, so it is marketing. But in the same breath, there are differences between what Futaba calls "Standard", "Precision", "High Speed", etc. But words like "Precision" and "High Speed" are subjective. While I like Futaba, I'd ignore the generalizations. The best best is to look as the specs, talk to others, etc., to determine which servo is best for your needs.

Precision means that they have better centering ability than the non-precision servos, but as just pointed out that's subjective. Better than which non-precision servo? How much better.
You can tell the difference if you get a good precision servo, but IMHO you have to go from a pretty sloppy servo to a very good "precision" servo to see a difference.
