Default used reciever

If your unsure of it, I would send it back for service and have them confirm that everything is working fine.

If you don't want to send it in, I would recommend a long range check with first the engine off, then with the engine running and someone holding the plane. The extra vibration and interference from the running engine can sometimes bring a minor problem to light.

Default range check

Why not just a long range check? Should be pretty simple to just put a battery and servo on it and check it out. If your concerned about something like previous crash damage shake it around a lot while your checking. Have never had a problem with any and have probably purchased at least a dozen used ones over the years. One of those if they work when you test them they work in the plane deals.

Default used reciever

DEFINITELY put it through a vibration check. Engine running at various RPMS during your range check (with someone securely holding the plane of course) is CRITICAL, as the most fragile part of your receivers are the ceramic filters, and they are VERY vibration sensitive.

Or, if it is Futaba/Tower/Hobbico, for $15 plus shipping you can have a good piece of mind that the item has been fully checked up and tested and is good to fly.

Receiver (only) frequency change: $20
Receiver (only) band change (except R127DF/DP and R138DP receivers): $20
Transmitter (only) frequency or band change: $20
Freq./Band change incl crystal/label/tuning.
All band changes are 72/75 MHz. 27/50 MHz cannot be changed.
R127/R138: CAN be changed from one band to another, it is not cost effective to do so.

Repl. Tx diode with poli-switch: $20. (Allows use of a voltmeter and/or discharger through the charge jack.)

CHECK-UP*
System (non-comp): $30
System (comp, not 9V or 9Z): $35
System (9V, 9Z): $45 (w/single channel module/receiver)
System (9Z w/synth Rx and module): $65
System checkup* price incl. checkout of transmitter, receiver, receiver battery pack, four servos, one switch harness, and charger. Battery packs will be cycled to check their condition. It does not include any actual repair, but does include any factory running changes/updates. If the system includes more than four (4) servos, there will be an additional charge of $5 per servo for the system checkout.
Tx only (not 9V or 9Z): $25
Tx only 9V or 9Z: $30
Rx only (non synth): $15
R309DPS: $25
Servos: $15 for the first servo, $5 each addtnl
Gyro: $15, add $5 for each servo included with gyro.

The following servos, due to their low purchase price, are generally not cost-effective to inspect or repair on a non-warranty basis: S148, S3001, S3003, S3004, S3101, S3106. Servos leads, case sets, and gear sets are available for these servos through your favorite hobby retailer. Any malfunction or broken part would not be cost-effective to have repaired if the servo is out of warranty.
*If the service technician determines that additional repairs are needed, a complete service estimate will be e-mailed, faxed, or phoned to you. Please supply such contact information on the service request worksheet (linked to the form). If a repair is required, the checkup charges are waived, and any prepayment sent with the items will be used toward the total cost of the item's service.

Transmitter toggle switch replacement (not 9V or 9Z): $20 for the first switch; each addtnl: $8.50
Transmitter toggle switch replacement (9V or 9Z): $40 for the first switch; each addtnl: $15
Change Lithium battery in 9V and 9Z transmitters: $45

Priority repair service: $35 surcharge. Guaranteed 2 business days turnaround. If there is a delay or backorder, this charge is waived.

Items such as battery packs, switch harnesses, and connector leads can be inspected, but cannot be repaired. If any of these items are suspect, it is usually more economical to purchase new ones than to have us test them, unless they are included as part of a larger number of other items.

The above charges do not include return shipping charges, and are waived in lieu of actual service charges. Prices/services are subject to change without notice.

Shipping:
US: ground: $7.99; 2nd day: $19.99; next day $25.99.
Canada: add $10 to above.
