Default Speculations on JR's answer to 14mz?

Just thought I'd start this discussion because the 14mz has been the hot topic lately...any thoughts (conjecture) as to what JR's response is like to be like?

Cheers,
Ken

If I was JR, I'd sit back and wait.

The old saying "Fools rush in where Angels fear to tread" comes to mind.

I'm hoping that this is a successfull good product, but as a software engineer with years of Windoze experience, I'm dubious. (I'm a Futaba user BTW, 9Z all the way!)

I was waiting on rumors because I'm in the market for a top end radio...After seeing the new Futaba will use windows CE as an operating system that was a deal killer for me....

I'll either shop JR or wait for multiplex to put in the change where you can change expo in each flight mode (duh to begin with...).

We havent heard anything here in the Uk about a 10X replacement, normally if there was going to be a new transmitter we would receive a preproduction model well in advance of it becoming public.

Perhaps they are waiting for the Tokyo show later this year to unwrap and reveal their latest & greatest, but tbh I don't know.

JR's response? A blank stare.

How about a 14X?... One thing we know for sure; it's still going to have the pos/neg plug backwards.

Are any of you guys really willing to drop $2000+ on a radio?? I finally got my hands onto a buddies 9303, best radio for the dollar IMO, Im still not selling my 10x, but might get rid of my trusty 8103 for the 9303 in the future...

And I agree, being the first to buy everything, typically means your first to crash/have the problems

Personally at this time I don't think the new Futaba radio warrents a response from JR. None of the "hard' data is out yet, but for $2200 I can't see it being a "hot" item to have. Unless you just need the extra channels I think a lot of people will take a wait and see attitude about it.

While I'm sure it is nice radio, it is the same price as a nicely equipped 28% gas aerobatic plane - fully equipped.

The 9303 is all the radio most of us will ever need. I could not justify the price difference when I was looking to replace my 8103....

Multiplex already has that...in the Profi 4000....They are around in the used market for a decent price...

The Profi 4000 isn't 14 channel, it's 12 channel... I think the Graupner/JR MC-24 will continue to be a big competitor with the 14mz, however it's an older radio... As for JR's response with a new radio, I've got my own idea... (hey, somebody in here has got to be right!)
There's will come out one year from now, and it'll be at least 15 channels, just to one-up Futaba (9Z+1=10X). And, going out on a limb here, it'll have telemetry built in! I just know this one, it's got to have it, right?

<<...MC-24 will continue to be a big competitor..>>

Not if Horizon continues to restrict the number of MC-24s that are allowed into the US. That little tidbit was discovered a year or so ago by a prominent scale heli modeler when he tried to order one.

Horizon obviously doesn't want the superior features of the MC-24 (which JR produces for Graupner) to become common knowledge here, lest that knowledge hurt 10X sales.

Futaba and JR both produce some really neat radios for the European market that we never see; by design. Horizon and The Empire want us to buy what they feel like bringing in.

Horizon/JR had over ten years to top the 9Z; and they never even caught up. So, I'm not holding my breath waiting on a "14mz-killer"...

MC-24 has at least one known software bug....MPX Profi 4000 rules the roost still.....Im going to think the 14 channel is actually a 10 channel wit h4 switchable on/off channels, kinda like the 9Z..not really 9 channel..lol

Since that 9303 is brand spanking new I assume you will share this sage advice with your friend.

BTW - I have a 9303, I like it a lot. I also like my 9ZWCII. And I'm looking forward to checking out the 14MZ at the AMA show in Ontario in January.

What bug?
I'm considering buying a MC-24, but I heard that it has some bugs. I can't find anyone to tell me if this is true...
Does anyone heard if new MC-24 (gold/black) have problems too?

Not forgetting, that Sanwa/Airtronics is eagerly working on an upgrade to the Stylus. A 10 channel RD8000 with some more mixers, sliders, switches and assignability - all in a solid magnesium case would be lovely!

Best regards,
Anders

I dont think JR will ever come out with anything like the Futaba 14MZ....for one main reason.

Futaba manufactures their own LCD screens. JR doesnt have this capability, so they would have to purchase the LCD's from somewhere else....and they certainly aren't going to buy them from Futaba.

I think JR's going to stick with the Spread Spectrum stuff, and try to compete with that, and their recently aquired Specktrum line.

Unfortunatly for JR, there are already pretty strong indications that Futaba is going to release a SS radio of there own this year, probably in the form of a 9MZ to replace the aging 9Z series. For now Futaba is on the top, and it looks like they fully intend to stay there.

FUtaba does not manufacture any LCD screens. They produce those green plasma displays (VDOs)

JR didn't aquire Specktrum but I could understand why you made the assumption since the transmitter appears to be the same case as the lower end JR's.

A Futaba spread spectrum is coming out? Really? That isn't just a rumor is it? Cause If we are spreading rumors, I heard JR is coming out with a new radio that is not only on an entirely new technology, it is 50 channels. Some of the channels are voice activated and still others are done via mind control.

I think many JR users feel JR is on top but if there is still any question, wait until the 50 channel JR radio comes out.
