Cleaning your TX? What is the best way?
What is the best way to clean your TX? After a season of flying, I find that my transmitter still ends up with some residue on it from fuel and just plain dirt. How do you guys clean your TX's? The inside is spic and span.

You ask a good question. One of the few irritating features of my Hitec Eclipse 7 is that the front-pannel is filled with nooks and crannies that are almost impossible to clean. They might look wonderful and shiny when they're new but after a few months of regular use in conjunction with an oil-spitting 2-stroke-powered model, they look awful!
One advantage of those old folded-metal cases we had in the 1960's and 70's is that they were very easy to wipe down after a day's flying.

I use a toothbrush to get in the nooks and crannies,
and a paper towel for the rest. For the harder stuff
I use a little bit of Goop hand cleaner with the
tooth brush.

I used compressed air and Q-tips dipped in either alcohol or windex and a toothbrush or pipe cleaner for hard to reach nooks and crannies. Do not use spray can compressed air or any spray cleaner that dries quickly. It can easily discolor the plastic or even worse fog up the lens on your LCD.

Not about cleaning, but about keeping the Tx clean:
I don't do this, sounds goofy, but a chinese restaurant I frequent covers their phone and debit machine with Plastic Wrap. I suppose if you cut or poked holes in the areas where you need to move controls, you wouldn't even need to worry about cleaning it much.

How do yo keep the plastic wrap clean? J/K That is like getting new furniture and leaving the plastic on it forever. Anyone else out there had moms like that?

I just broke my YG 6's Rudder and Throttle mechanism by trying to clean the inside of the transmitter with compressed air in a spray can ( electronics cleaner). It just fell apart, must been broken earlier and when opened and once had enough room to come apart it did. The Box is one the way to HOBBY SERVICES now, sure hope to get it back soon at a reasonable cost.
