Default Need technical details of how radio and esc work

Hello,

Would someone point me to a site or sites that provide complete technical information about what the transmitter sends to the receiver and then what goes to the ESC? (and servers)

My aim is to see what has to be done to my (unknown mfr) ESC to change it to work over the full range of my Tower Hobbies 4FM's stick. I have some knowledge of electronics from my days of maintaining two-way radios in a fleet of delivery trucks.

Al,

Thanks for the wonerful information. I was very easy to understand. The missing info now is the same type of discussion on the Electronic Speed Controls (ESC). Could you give me some ideas where to find same?
