Default How to create a fully redundant RX RC system ?

I've just purchased a 31' Airship (blimp) with dual g26 engines and dual control surfaces (rudder & elevator). While I am sure this sounds ultra boring to most, and for flight purposes, it does probably will to me since I like to fly helicopters and rarely get a break while above 0 AGL, this thing costs over 20k plus another $2-$5k in aerial photography or video gear. I need to protect the investment as best as possible.

This is what has been described to me so far on how to build a redundant system. Please correct me or add to this if I am off base thus far.

Receiver 1
Battery & Switch 1
Connect Elevator Servo (left surface to elevator port)
Connect Rudder Servo (upper surface to rudder port)
Connect Engine Servo (left side to throttle port)
Set Fail safe to 0% on surfaces and idle on engine

Receiver 2
Battery & Switch 2
Connect Elevator Servo (right surface to elevator port)
Connect Rudder Servo (lower surface to rudder port)
Connect Engine Servo (right side to throttle port)
Set Fail safe to 0% on surfaces and idle on engine

Anything else? Will this work properly?

Thanks!
David

It sounds good as far as it goes. I think I would put the two receivers on different frequencies and provide a means to switch between the two while in flight. You could also add a GPS receiver and an autopilot and program the system to return to a predetermined coordinates in case of transmission failure.

Also a heads up, check with your local FAA FSDO before you fly it for money. The FAA is starting to take a look at remote AP operations as "commercial" enterprises. And as such it is no longer a model but a commercial RPV/UAV.
