Default Futaba crystals in Hitec receivers?

I know you can use Hitec crystals in Futaba receivers (R127DF) but can you use Futaba crystals in Hitec receivers (Supreme 8)?

Both are dual conversion on 72mHz.

The reps and manufacturers will say no, but in practical sense it will work. I've done it, but only with foamie slopers.

The full house 3meter TD ships that I fly to the limits of my vision use A with A and B with B.

I wouldn't want a plane to crash and hurt someone or something and then have the insurace coverage denied because of a different manufacturers xtal used.

So long as the crystals are dual conversion they will work fine.

I use a Fut Xtal in my Hitec 555 (Zagi)

Since the 555 takes the same Xtal as the supreme, yes it will work

What about Fut Xtals in Hitec Tx and Hitec Xtals in Fut Tx ??? Again, assuming both are Dual conversion, same Freq' Et cetera.

There's no such thing as dual conversion in transmitters, that's just a receiver term. Mixing up crystals can be dangerous and confusing. What works for the Americans on 72MHz may not work on other bands (I guess you fly on 36MHz). E.g. in the UK (35MHz band) a Futaba dual conversion Rx crystal WILL NOT work in a Hitec 555, they're completely different.

Mess with them at your own risk.

Davey, more than anyone wants to know about radios here:

On another topic........
Funny But I have a Futaba Xtal in the Hitec 555 with no problems whatsoever.

a Futaba dual conversion Rx crystal WILL NOT work in a Hitec 555, they're completely different.

Guys! Is it really worth risking your airplane over a $10-15 crystal? Look at the whole picture here, your risking your plane, radio gear, engine and possibly someone's life all for $10-15. Do the right thing and buy the right crystal.

Default Crystals

To avoid frequency congestion, I had my crystals cut by a crystal manufacturer on the (rarely used) legal frequency I wanted. All up cost about the same as buying the manufacturer branded item retail. I sent my existing Tx and Rx crystals to them, they matched the specs and cut the new crystals to my chosen frequency.

I now have a frequency that allows me to avoid waiting around at the field while "Percy Cheesecake" (every club has one) fiddles with needles and plug on his long suffering engine or indulges in a complete excavation of his models radio bay. I obtained two custom made Tx and four Rx crystals enable a complete changeover to the new freqency for all my gear. Some $$ invested here, but it is worth it (to me) to avoid grinding my teeth away.

I believe the crystals I now have are made to even tighter specs. than the OEM product. The performance is flawless in all receivers (PCM and PPM) and has been flight proven at extreme range.

There are alternatives available if you can't get a crystal you want from the manufacturer. They really are like spark plugs in a car to a certain extent. As long as they meet the specs, your radio will work.

Default Crystals

CP

I organised mine though Bob Young, one of Australia's most eminent radio guru's:

Check out his product range (including custom made crystals) at:

www.silvertone.com.au

click on "prices for our goods and services" on the home page and you will get the page detaling crystals and costs.

Hi-Q at Melbourne also offer a very good crystal cutting service.

KCFlyBoy, I am sure there are similar businesses in the US that can help if you have a problem, although crystals seem to be more readily available on all legal frequencies in the US than they are Downunder!

Default Futaba crystals in Hitec receivers?

I suspect Futaba and Hitec crystals are cut to the same specs. Would anyone dealing with Bob care to ask him if he knows?

Thanks

I have used Hitec crystals in my Futaba receivers and Futaba crystals in Hitec with out any problems you have to make sure they are dual conversion. The single conversion will not work.
