Coreless not Coreless
Hiya,
Just tried out my 5925's and 5945's, and turned them off, expecting them to be easy to turn, and they are solid as a rock. I like seein them dangly surfaces when the plane is turned off, but it don't seem like these are doing that. THey say coreless, but they still like normal..
Do i need the progrmmer or somthing to get that 'feature'?
Thanks,
Scott

They might have a low resistance in parallel with the brushes when they are turned off. In that case they should still turn but slowly. The motor is acting like a generator and the generated voltage is being dissipated in the resistance

RE: Coreless not Coreless
Under normal circumstances a 5925 that is hard to turn is probably draging its windings on the magnets -- however if my memory serves me correctly, Hitec did state a while back that they'd changed suppliers of coreless motors and perhaps the new motors are somewhat stiffer (brushes/bushes?) than the old ones.
All my 5925s will turn if you even look at them funny when they're not energized -- except for one that's going back for a warranty repair -- it used to turn fine but just started getting tighter and tighter and slower and slower.

The bearings may still be a little tight. You will also see that your surfaces may not hang down at first. After a couple of dozen flights, you will see that when you power off the plane, the controls hang down. The joint has to loosen up and the gears have to get run in.
