Default Hitec servos

I have recently heard rumors about Hitec servos. I have never used them and know little to nothing about them a couple of hobby dealers said that they have had centering problems on both digital and standard.Could someone please give me some input on hitec as they appear to be cheaper to use and have alot of choices.

YOU HAVE OPENED A CAN OF WORMS. SOME PEOPLE LOVE THEM AND OTHERS HATE THEM. THE DEBATE BETWEEN GOOD AND BAD WILL ASTOUND YOU.
GOOD LUCK.

I live in San Diego, Hitec is located in Sd county..I personaly know the people there..What I will say is I have only had one bad servo in 8 years..except the ones ive driven into the runwey or tree or whatever jumped up in front of my plane. I am one of the Guys that like them..Thats all I fly..There customer service is the best around..

The company does strive to please and upgrade their products based on customer feed back..

the only problem that I've had is that one of the basic servos (HS 300 I believe) went bad on me.....but it didn't go bad all at once...it was just responding really slowly....it was the elevator servo and I was able to fly and land the plane safely. Overall, I like them.

I heard General Motors made a couple of cars that needed repairs.

but seriously now....
I have about 15 various hitec servos, 2 are so old they say Aristocraft-Hitec on them. Never had a problem. The hs81micros are noisy, but then I don't have any other brand micros to compare them to.

I wish I had your guys luck with Hitec servos. I recently purchased all digitals for my big bird. To cut the the story short on the 5th flight, after resetting them as requested by Hitec, one failed causing the loss of my aircraft. First and probably the last time I'll use Hitec servos but for now I'm waiting to see just how well Hitec will respond. So, are there centering problems? Maybe not in some but there are many recent post of troubles with them.

Dave,
I should have specified I have no digital servos, so I don't know about them. The fellow asked about both digital and standard- all I have are 5 different types of standard and micros.
Sorry to hear about your crash.

I am also not happy with hitec servos both digital and standard. I had a lose of $600-$700 because of the bad hitec servo. I think their quality and factory quality control has dropped below acceptable.

Default HS-300

I have had 2 HS-300's fail on me withing 6 months of buying the radio. The third one is on the way out as we speak!
Luckily my hobby store owner keeps taking the bad ones and giving me new HS-300's (Maybe that isn't so lucky for me).

Besides the servo problems my Focus 4 works like a charm.

I will be switching to HS-425B's (bearinged) soon.

4 HS-300s came with my focus 4 which I bought 5 1/2 years ago. I've had a few hard landings and 1 bad crash. After all that I have one servo starting to jitter just this past weekend. That's pretty good considering the pounding I gave the equipment and it's age. I just made a trip to my LHS and replaced it with anohter Hitec. They've served me well so I'm sticking with them.
