RE: heading hold gyros
A heading hold gyro is something you purchase and put inline between your reciever and whatever servo (usually) rudder that you want it to control. Remote gain is set by altering the atv's of a spare switched channel that the gyro has an additional plug that goes into the reciever.
For example in a helicopter the gyro will have 2 male plugs and a female. The 3 wire male goes into the reciever channel 4 (rudder) and the servo plugs into the female. The additional male plug goes into a spare channel. That channel (usually channel 5 the gear switch) then controls whether the gyro is in heading hold or not depending on which way the switch is, and the end points of the switch set how much gain the gyro will use in that mode.
