Need Some help on TX/RX selection
Would like some help on something.
My current radio just kicked the bucket after several years of abuse so I need a new one. The problem is that while I need some upper end functions, I also need to keep it on a very tight budget.
What I need is as follows - Must have EPA, Digital Trims, Dual rates. These things are manditory. Other things that would be nice, but not 'must haves' are: exponential, mixing, 5th or 6th channel.
It seems that to get the features I want, I need to goto a 6channel computer radio. These offered from JR, Futaba, and Hitec are all around the 200-240 range.
Anyone know of a way to get a radio that will suit my needs for the 100-150 range? I need only a TX/RX. I have checked around the forums for used systems, but it seems all that is for sale are radios designed for nitro planes, which all come with a receiver that is just huge!
Ideas, recommendations?

Well, just for example, looking at Servo City they have an optic 6 Hitec for about $135 and then add a micro 4 channel receiver and you're still under $200. I fly Futaba radios but a couple of the Optic 6s are being used at our club and they are real nice for the money, and I think they have all the features you are looking for. good luck.

Yeah, I like my 6xas but I wish it had digital trims. I bought a 9c to run 2 elevator servos and discovered how nice digital trims are. Seems like I'm always bumping the regular ones and it one more thing you need to check before flying.

Check out the Hitec Optic6, IMHO that is the best buy right now and even if you get it with the Spectra Module (recomended) it is still in your stated price range.

RE: Need Some help on TX/RX selection
Thanks alot for the help guys - I have two deals that are possible right now used.
Futaba 6EXA w/ Hitec 555 rcvr = $95.00 shipped
Hitec Eclipse 7 w/ Hitec micro 6channel rcvr = $200.00 shipped.
Any ideas if these would be a good value? Both are reported to be in nearly new condition, and the photos confirm this.

The eclipse exceeds all of your requirements by a wide margin.
The EXA meets your requirements with some extras. That looks like an exceptional price, especially with that receiver.
You can get a new Eclipse with that receiver for about $230 at www.servocity.com
Th EXA is a better value
The eclispe is a far superior radio, but not as much of a deal.
