Radio and receiver 101 needed, thanks!
I am pretty new to this and need a little help. I have a basic understanding and want to convert all my surface vehicles to FM.
What is -shift and +shift?
Difference between single conversion and dual conversion? And are the components (ie crystals etc) compatible?
Can a synthesized TX tune into a crystal based receiver?
Can a synthesized reciever tune into a crystal based Tx?
Any suggestions for a nice FM radio under $200 welcome too, I had my eyes on the JR XS3. Thanks for your help guys.

In general (there are exceptions, JR for example) dual conversion receivers are better at rejecting interference and have a greater range. The crystals are not usually compatible. In general, you buy the brand and type crystal specified by that manufacturer for that receiver.
