Default Minimum receiver voltage under load

I'm using three different Castle Creation Phoenix speed controllers and I'm curious what the minimum acceptable voltage should be. I made an adapter that allow me to connect my Hangar 9 variable load voltmeter to an unused channel on a receiver. I can monitor the voltage under different conditions.

Using a Phoenix 35 ESC, I connected a Sombra Shadow 3 receiver, three Hitec HS-56 servos, and a Hitec HS-50 servo. Sitting idle, the receiver bus voltage is 4.90 volts. When I simultaneously exercise all four servos, the voltage dropped to near 4.00 volts. I tried this same process using a Phoenix 25 and a Phoenix 10 ESC and received similar results.

I also used a four cell NiCad receiver pack instead of using the power supplied by an ESC BEC (I feel like I'm back in the military again when I talk like that...), and the idle voltage was around 5.20 volts, and it dropped to about 4.85-4.90 volts under load.

I'm hoping the lower voltage from the ESC's are ok.

Any input?

Thanks....

Default RE: Minimum receiver voltage under load

Check the receiver specs...Many receiver use 4.4 volt regulators which me if you go below that erratic receiver operation is possible.
