Default Seperate power feed for heavy duty rudder servo?

I am putting together a new plane that will have a Hitec HS-5475MG rudder servo. My flight battery (3000 mAh Nimh) came with dual leads. If i add a second switch shouldn't I be able to use a short heavy duty "Y" harness to power just the rudder servo? If I have my thinking straight running the "Y" would show the reciever 2 paralell power feeds to the battery- one through the reciever's power bus and first switch and the second through the "Y" and second switch. Cutting the positive line on the side of the "Y" leading to the reciever should completly isolate the rudder servo's power load from the reciver's power bus.

Is this correct?

Correct. This is a good method of provding a redundant power path to the RX and feeding the jumbo.

It won't be redundant if you Cut the positive line on the side of the "Y" leading to the reciever.

Is there likely to be any problem leaving the positive lead intact, so as to give a redundant feed? I thinking of noise, glitches etc. picked up throung the second lead.

With both feeds active the rudder servo power load will be split roughly in half between the 2 leads, correct?

silly question... why?

maybe on a giant scale, but if it is a 5475, then we are talking 40 to 60 size.... it really isn't going to draw much power..

just curious the reasoning

I reversed a couple of numbers there.

The rudder servo is a Hitec HS-5745MG digital (280 oz/in @ 6.0V)

Sorry about that.
