Need help on buying new radio.
I am looking for a new radio to buy just the transmitter I have two that I like and they are the Airtronics VG6000 and the Hitec Flash 5X. What I was wondering which one is easier to use and setup. I was looking at them two because I have a $115 dollar budget and the Flash5 is $109 and the VG6000 is $99. Which one is the better deal I know that the VG is 6 channel which is good but my dad and brother have had their Hitec radios for about 8 years and they are still working like new. Thats what I was really wondering because I don't know anyone that has had a Airtronics one and if they last long or they break I know they should be good because alot of people enjoy them. Which one should I choose the Hitec Flash 5X or the Airtronics VG6000?
One more thing If you have any other radios at some website to buy the transmitter only in my budget limit please tell me about them and if you tried them or knows someone who has. Thanks.

I would suggest the VG6000 since it's newer technology and the price is right, the flasj has been around for a while, the VG6000 is easy to program and most info is on the screen (i like the screen on top not bottom). I have an RD600 sport and liek the radio very much

well I know that the transmitter is slighty higher then you can afford but you could go to www.brucknerhobbies.com and get a 7cap transmitter only for $150. The more channels and model memery you can get the less you will spend later. I'm sure others might know where you can get the same thing or something else for cheaper.

shark1014, if the reason you just want the transmitter is because you already have the plane with a receiver installed, then you have to match the radio you buy to the receiver. HiTec transmitters are not compatible with Airtronics receivers and vice versa. What brand receiver is in your plane?
Edited to add: I just read the post above. If the 6000 is shift selectable, then what I said is not an issue.

Thanks for the help I will keep researching them and reading more reviews but I am leaning towards the VG6000 just because like one post said its newer and it has the screen on top and not on bottom which I think doesn't matter much but I like it better. One more thing is that its shift selectable which I didn't even knew it had but thats nice and the fact that on the screen there are not many or any menus at all from what I have seen they are all on the same screen which I would like more because I don't fill like switching through menus.

The Hitec Optic 6 6-Channel Tx & Spectra Module Only, is not within your budget ($179.99), but for a few bucks more you get a selectable shift radio, and a synthesized module that allows you to dial up any channel from 11-60. You can't beat these radios. I sell tranmitters only also. Call if I can help.
