Default Ailerons backwards

Hi You Guys!

I've been putting together the Tiger 2 ARF. Each wing half has a servo for the ailerons with servo extensions and a Y harness. When I connected everything both ailerons were going the same direction. You're probably grinning right now...already figured out what I did wrong....please enlighten me!

It's getting cold up here in central MN!!

Try reversing one of the control arms ie left servo has arm on left side, right servo has arm on right side. Since both servos are going in the same direction one will be pulling and one will be pushing.

Thanks Hank for replying to me. Yep...I'd like to try that but the enclosure in the wings locked me into installing them to go the same direction. I might have to do some carving.

can you run the wings on their own channels? if so, that is the best way anyway, and mix them with a computer radio. otherwise, you can get Y harnesses with a reverser on one side just for your purpose.

The tiger 2 should have the servos sitting on their sides - but the servo orientation shoudl be 180 degrees away from each other - the last one I helped with was that way. I can't remember if the servo output shaft bothe point towards each other, or away, but my memory says that the 2 servos shouldn't be facing the same direction.

I have a Tiger 2 ARF that I converted into a twin and my servos worked out OK.

In your case, before you cut wood, here are 2 options:

If you have a computer radio, set a Flaperon wing type and reverse the flap servo.

Get a reversing Y harness. It will reverse one of the servos. I know Maxx Products has them as does Radical RC.

Adrenalnjunky has it right. No need for programming. Just hook them to the "y" and make sure the servo arms are both facing the end of the wing or facing the center. It won't make a difference the ailerons will work the way they should. We use Tiger 2 ARF's as our clubs low wing trainer and have put together a bunch of them, with the help of 5th & 6th grade kids with no problems.

Robotech indeed hit on what is going on Futaba and Hitec (ex RCD, Aristocraft) servos are reversed in their factory defaults. Sometimes folk will use the two together when they have set up servo orientation improperly.

By the way when orienting servos for Y corded ailerons (both servos same type) it makes no differance as long as when flat the output shafts are pointing either toward or away from each other. Or when mounted upright into the wing, the push rods both connects either on the outside or inside of the servo arms.
