Default making your own reciever and crystal

i jus had a thought is it possible to make your very own reciever? how would it be done? and another thing would the reciever be legal with fcc rules? just something i like to think about. basicly im typing whatever is on my mind related to r/c.

Yes you can build your own Rx, many early R/C systems were built from plans or kits (Tx's built only by those with licences). FCC regs only apply to things that transmit, receivers aren't regulated by the FCC, however. if you do a poor job you're going to be very unpopular at the flying field.
