Default Making a Futaba DSC Cable??

Hi, I have a Futaba buddy lead and i want to chop off one end and solder it to a servo extension to make a DSC lead.
Problem is I dont know what wires need soldering to which on the servo extension lead, if anyone can help it would be much apreciated!

Also can the DSC function only work on certain receivers?

Using a Futaba FF9, with square plug.

Many Thanks.

My DSC works on all receiver's I've tried. I assume that all compatible plugs will work.

I'm just a bit curious. The DSC cables cost about $9, but the buddy cords cost $12. Why not just buy the appropriate DSC cable and if you're not using the buddy cable, sell it.

Take a look at this link.
It should be able to help you address your problem
http://www.geistware.com/rcmodeling/articles/9c_dsc.htm

Pin 2 & 3 are the only two that you really need for signal transfer from TX to RX.

Hi,

First of all I'd like to confirm what is mentioned on the website of Geistware (he even used my drawing of the square connector...).

On the other hand I would like to mention that DSC is working exclusively with a receiver fitted with a DSC-connection. Plugging the DSC in a servo outlet will not work!

Yep, olivier also has drawings of other plug types. I used his information to as an example to Futaba (hobby Services) to change the DSC cable that is shipped from Tower. They said no. The cable does not power up the TX unless you modify it. When powered up this way, it does not power up the RF section so I didn't see what the problem was.

The only receiver I know that has this is the Futaba R149DP, R309DPS and R319DPS.

Futaba says the 113F and 113IP also work with DSC, but they have no special connection. The 3PJS and 9Z manuals show the DSC connection in the battery socket, and the battery connected to a spare channel. If all of the channels are full they suggest using a y adapter.
