hey bipeflyr - My 7C with 1800 Nimh pack weighs 30.4 ounces. I THINK it feels lighter than the 9Cs I've used but definitely heavier than my Hitec Flash 5

Hmmm, curiosity got to me and I weighed more, turns out the standard 700mah 8cell Nicd tx pack only weighs 6.4 ounces vs. the 7.8 of my nimh pack and the Flash 5 only weighs about an ounce less, guess its smalller size fooled me.

Bipeflyr,

Have you tried using a neck strap? I don't have arthritis, but with the strap the radio feels so much more secure. I can't fly without it now, it feels too weird, like the radio is always going to drop out of my hands.

Cheers!

jollidude I agree with you . I never really used a neckstrap before and with my radio I can hold it alright but I sometimes have a problem finding a way to flip switches withough feeling like I'm going to drop the transmitter. I just got to get over the feeling of feeling silly with a neckstrap but I think this year I'm going to tray getting one of those new futaba neckstraps and see how that feels. I have hooked up a neckstrap at home tyo test the feel and it does feel more secure and easier to flip the switches.

Edit : and by the way I didn't weigh my radio, But my 7c feels a bit heavy to me. I of course have a NiMh battery if they are heavier as stated above.

Thanks for the replys guys, I'll have to add some weight to my 6X and see how that feels.

I tried a strap one time and maybe I didnt give it enough time but if felt weird, also when I was carying the plane to the runway and the radio dangling from my neck it bumped the throttle to full, I guess you dont put it on your neck till you're ready to fly.

I should try to use a neckstrap and see, could anyone give me some pointers of things you should or should'nt do when wearing one to make it easier to manage?
Thanks

well I seen one guy at my flying field took his neckstrap and removed the clip end of the strap. He has installed a piece of metel wire where he bent it to a shape where he could easily carry the transmitter and plane to the runway and then easily hook it to his transmitter and not have to worrk about it falling off during flight

The biggest thing about a neck strap is to take it off when you aren't ready to fly...or secure it to your body somehow. You don't want any chance of it getting into the propeller of your model.

I put the hook of my neckstrap in my pocket, or if I'm wearing a T-shirt, I flip it over on my back when starting the engine. After you get in the habit of using the strap, you won't want to do without it.

My buddy's 9C is noticeably heavier than my 7C. We're both using the 'stock' battery packs.

I saw a guy fly that had a problem with his arms that used a transmitter tray that someone had built him. It clipped on over his shoulders. Man that guy could fly. And a lot of helicopter type people use similar setups, it might be a better alternative than the pesky neckstrap.

Also, go to a music store, and get one of the soft pads for guitar straps....makes it much more comfy (plus they are longer, you can cut it and get 2 or 3 peices out of it...
