Default Futaba 148DP vs. 138DP

I have both and they work the same.
According to Ann Marie, the 148 is better quality.
The 138 is the economy model.
The exact difference she didn't know.

My "GUESS" would be the part tolerance is better with the 148 but other than that, I have asked the same question before.

Default Futaba 148DP vs. 138DP

Hi Fred,
Both Rx's are PCM and both use the same PCM processor. The 148 has two onboard voltage regulators, one feeding the PCM processor and the other feeding the TA7761 FM IF Demodulator IC. The 138 Rx has just the one regulator - same type as on the 148.

The 138 uses FOUR active components and a ceramic filter before your transmitted signal is allowed into the main Rx IC.
The 148 uses SEVEN active components and a ceramic filter. PCM is only as good as the FM signal conditioning preceeding it.

If you want excellent RF security then go for the 148 its designed to cope easily with the harshest RF environment. The 138 is now several years old, here in the UK, and has gained a reputation for reliability. It is the standard Rx placed in an over the counter mid-range set.

The 148 is the most sophisticated Rx Futaba has designed and far more complex than anything JR has produced.
